Applying for New or Revised Services

  • Customers seeking new electric or water services or modifications to existing services are required to complete the Application for New/Revised Service (PDF).
  • The application, along with the relevant fee, should be submitted to our office via mail, email, or fax.
  • The application must be fully filled out and accompanied by the application fee to ensure it is appropriately evaluated.
  • Upon receiving the application, a Customer Service Representative will get in touch for information verification and payment confirmation (if not mailed).
  • Customers inquiring about a new or revised water service also need to complete a Water Application (PDF).
  • Customers without a current electric account must also complete the Residential Application (PDF).

Streamlining the Process

  • To expedite the application process, it is recommended to provide detailed electric load information and a site plan with the application.

  • For customers applying for parcels without a physical address, obtaining an address is a prerequisite for completing the Application for New/Revised Service (PDF).
  • Customers located within city limits (Raymond, South Bend, Ilwaco, or Long Beach) should contact the appropriate city, while those in other county areas can reach out to the Department of Public Works at (360) 875-9368.

The Evaluation Process

  • Following the submission of the application and payment of the application fee, the engineering department will assess the request.
  • They will communicate via mail with an estimate of the cost for installing the requested service and provide further instructions.
  • It’s important to be patient, as this evaluation process can take up to 8 weeks.
  • Consider this timeframe when deciding when to submit your application.
Don’t Know If Your Service Is New or Revised?

Requirements and specifications for installing residential electric service where it has not existed before can be found in the Public Utility District 2 of Pacific County (PDF) document. All new and revised services must be installed underground.

  • New Service Example: Where electric service has been off for over 1 year or never existed at all. This includes the addition of another meter to a site with existing electric service.
  • Revised Service Example: A current active service or a service that has not been off for 1 year or more where the customer wishes relocate and/or convert the service from overhead to underground or increase the service size (ex. 200amp to 400amp).
Customer Responsibilities

Preparing for Electrical Service Installation

  • Customers must obtain an electrical work permit.
  • Installation includes underground facilities from the meter base to the PUD access point.
  • The State of Washington, Department of Labor and Industries, must inspect and approve the installation before Pacific County PUD connects the service.
  • It's important to research and comply with local requirements before commencing your project.

The Installation Process, Safety, & District Policies

  • Consider that engineering, permitting, and scheduling requirements need time before constructing a new electrical service.
  • Timely submission of applications and adherence to
  • District-set requirements are vital prerequisites.

  • Safety is a top priority; make sure all customer-owned equipment and wiring meet National Electric Code (NEC) and state or local requirements to protect your safety and that of Pacific County PUD employees.
  • Accepting service from the District is an agreement with and acceptance of the District's policies, making it a crucial step in the process.
